Loons Take Center Stage at the KLA Annual Meeting!
On June 24, members of the Kingston Lake Association and community gathered at the Kingston Community Library for our Annual Meeting — and this year’s featured presentation was a true community favorite.
Biologists from the Loon Preservation Committee joined us to share an in-depth look at the lives of loons: their nesting habits, how they raise their young, the challenges they face, and — closest to home — their presence right here on Great Pond. Attendees learned what makes loon calls so distinctive, why quiet, undisturbed shorelines matter so much during nesting season, and simple ways lake residents can help protect these iconic birds for years to come.
Turnout was fantastic, with a packed room of neighbors eager to learn more about the wildlife that shares our lake. Thank you to everyone who came out, and a special thank-you to our presenters for such an engaging and informative evening.
Keep an eye on Great Pond this summer — now that you know what to look (and listen) for, you may spot a loon family of your own.
